Hong Kong BN(O) Visa: A New Life in the UK

The Hong Kong BN(O) Visa provides a pathway for British National (Overseas) status holders and their close family members to live, work, and study in the UK, with a clear route to settlement and citizenship.

Eligibility

  • You must hold BN(O) status (or be a close family member of a BN(O) holder)

  • You must normally live in Hong Kong, unless you left after 1 July 2020

  • You must be able to support yourself for at least 6 months

  • You must not have serious criminal convictions

Duration and Settlement

  • Choose between 30-month or 5-year visa

  • After 5 years total residence, apply for ILR

  • After 12 months with ILR, apply for British citizenship

  • Full work and study rights from day one
