UK Fiancé Visa: Planning Your Wedding in Britain

The Fiancé Visa allows you to travel to the UK to marry your British or settled partner. You must marry within 6 months of arriving, after which you switch to a Spouse Visa to continue living in the UK.

This visa is ideal for couples who want to celebrate their wedding in the UK before beginning their married life together. Unlike the Spouse Visa, you do not need to be married before applying — but you must demonstrate a genuine intention to marry.

Key Requirements

  • You and your partner must both intend to marry within 6 months of your arrival

  • Your partner must be a British citizen or have Indefinite Leave to Remain

  • Meet the minimum income requirement of £29,000 per year

  • Prove you have adequate accommodation in the UK

  • English language ability at A1 level

  • You must be able to support yourselves without public funds

Important: Working Restrictions

You CANNOT work on a Fiancé Visa. Only after you marry and switch to a Spouse Visa will you be allowed to work in the UK. Plan your finances accordingly for the initial period.

After Your Wedding

Once married in the UK, you must apply for Further Leave to Remain (FLR) as a spouse. This costs an additional application fee and requires fresh supporting evidence. From this point, your 5-year route to settlement begins.

The switch from Fiancé to Spouse Visa is a critical step. Our team ensures your FLR application is prepared correctly and submitted on time.
