UK Intra-Company Transfer (Global Business Mobility)

The Global Business Mobility routes allow multinational companies to transfer key employees to their UK operations. These routes replace the old Intra-Company Transfer visa.

Categories

  • Senior or Specialist Worker: For senior managers or employees with specialist knowledge (12+ months with company)

  • Graduate Trainee: For employees on a structured training programme (3+ months with company)

  • UK Expansion Worker: For senior employees setting up a new UK branch

  • Secondment Worker: For employees on a high-value contract or secondment

  • Service Supplier: For contractual service suppliers and independent professionals

Key Points

  • The UK entity must hold a valid Sponsor Licence

  • The employee must meet the minimum salary threshold for their category

  • Most categories do not lead directly to settlement — but switching to a Skilled Worker Visa is possible

  • The Senior or Specialist Worker route does count towards ILR after 5 years
