UK Graduate Visa: Launch Your Career After University

The Graduate Visa gives international students who have completed a UK degree 2 years to work freely in the UK (3 years for PhD graduates). No job offer or sponsor is required.

This is one of the most valuable post-study work opportunities in the world. You can work in any role at any skill level, be self-employed, or volunteer while you build your career in the UK.

Eligibility

  • You must hold a valid Student Visa at the time of application

  • You must have successfully completed a degree at undergraduate level or above

  • Your university must have track record sponsor status

  • You must apply from within the UK

  • You must not have previously held a Graduate Visa

What You Can Do

  • Work in any job — no restrictions on role, sector, or salary

  • Be self-employed or start your own business

  • Switch to a Skilled Worker Visa at any time if you find a qualifying job

  • Study alongside working

Planning Ahead

The Graduate Visa cannot be extended. Before it expires, secure a Skilled Worker Visa or other eligible route to continue your stay. Many graduates find that the 2-year window is more than enough to establish themselves and find a sponsor.
